Problems we see most on La Cornue
- An oven that seems slow to come up A vaulted cavity heats quite differently from a rectangular one, and calibrated by somebody unfamiliar with the design that reads as a problem it is not.
- A burner that will not hold a low flame French valves are adjusted at a different point from American ones, and the screw people reach for first is the wrong one.
- Enamel crazing near the oven door Cosmetic, expected with age on vitrified enamel, and no reason whatsoever to open anything.
Why the manufacturer matters
La Cornue is known for bespoke French ranges with vaulted ovens, brass and vitrified enamel. Those design choices determine how the equipment fails, and therefore the order in which a cooktop, range and oven should be examined.
A technician who applies the same routine to every machine will reach the correct part eventually, by replacing the wrong ones first. That approach is expensive, and the customer is the one who pays for it. Knowing the manufacturer shortens the diagnostics to a small number of measurements.
Parts and pricing
We fit genuine La Cornue parts wherever they remain available, and the ones that fail most frequently are carried on the van. Where a part for an older model is no longer manufactured, we will say so and set out the options, rather than substituting an equivalent without telling you.
The cost of the part and the cost of the labor are presented to you separately, agreed before work begins, and recorded on the invoice together with the part number. Our labor is warranted for a period of 30 days.
Find the model number first
On La Cornue it sits on the door frame, behind the kick plate, along a drawer runner or on the rear panel depending on what you have. If the plate has worn, photograph it and send it to us; we can usually read what remains. Once the model is confirmed, the parts known to fail on that exact unit are loaded before the technician leaves our Katy Freeway office.
