A front loader at full spin turns a drum of wet laundry well past a thousand revolutions a minute. Everything about the machine exists to keep that force inside the cabinet. When it starts arriving at the floor instead, something specific has changed and it is usually cheap.
Rule out the floor
Spirit level on the top, front to back and side to side, then press down on each corner in turn. Any rock means the feet are wrong and everything else follows from that. Adjust until it does not move, then tighten the locknuts, which is the step everybody skips. A machine that was fine for four years and started walking after a floor was refinished has a floor problem, not a machine problem.
Rule out the load
One bath sheet alone is the classic. It soaks up water, drops to one side and no amount of redistribution recovers it. Machines retry, slow the spin, then give up and move. If it only happens on small loads or single heavy items, that is your answer and there is nothing to repair.
Then it is the suspension
Front loaders hang the drum on springs above and dampers below. Dampers wear gradually, so the machine gets worse over months rather than failing on a particular Tuesday. Concrete counterweights are bolted to the tub and those bolts do loosen. On upper-floor laundry closets, which is most of Highland Village and West U, all of that is heard through the whole house.
All of it is repairable. What matters is catching it early: a machine left banging for a year damages the bearing and the outer tub as well, and that repair does start approaching the price of the appliance.
